Pen Y Wain Bungalow was the second home acquired by Cwm Care Limited in 2010. It is located near the West Mon Golf course in Nantyglo. The home is licensed for 4 young adults with the primary diagnosis of learning disability. It has been used for this purpose since 1992. This is a large 4 bedroom bungalow that provides abundant shared spaces which complement and supplement four individual bedrooms for individuals.
The bedrooms are fully furnished to individual requirements and specifications. Individuals choose the furniture and decorations in their rooms. The bedrooms provide independence and optimal privacy for individuals. Each bedroom fully complies with required standards including individual TVs, wardrobe and adequate space for storage of personal possessions.
There is a large living room with shared TV connected to satellite, a large kitchen/ dining room, and 2 bathrooms. One bathroom has a bath and a shower unit and the other is a large shower wet room. Individuals also choose the furniture and decorations in the shared areas. Wi-Fi is available and individuals are encouraged ICT skill.
There are large front and back gardens enclosed for privacy by well-trimmed hedges. The front of the bungalow overlooks Brynmawr and Nantyglo towns and provides panoramic views of the area with a good view of Sugar Loaf Mountain in the distance. The farms seen from the front gardens have cows, sheep and horses and some individuals find looking at these relaxing.
There are apple trees and vegetable plot in the back garden. Individuals are encouraged to grow their own organic vegetables and flowers. All parts of the bungalow and its gardens are accessible by wheelchair. The location above Nantyglo gives an air of tranquillity whilst being only a few minutes from Brynmawr town centre and a superstore. There are no vacancies currently in this home.
